Klamath Healthy Start

Healthy Start is a support and education program for first-time parents and is available in every county in Oregon. First-time parents receive a "Welcome Baby Visit" at Merle West Medical Center which includes an introduction to the program and free books and parenting information. Screenings are conducted at the birthing center and in the home to determine if the family would benefit from home-visiting services. Healthy Start provides in-home risk prevention and behavioral health services for enrolled families.

Families participate voluntarily in this free and confidential program and receive individualized home visits and referrals from trained staff. By providing services to overburdened families, Healthy Start aims to enhance family functioning and parent-child interactions.

Klamath Healthy Start is works with the following community partners to best serve Klamath County's new parents:

Oregon Commission on Children & Families, Oregon Department of Human Services, Klamath County Health Department, Merle West Medical Center Family Birthing Center, Klamath County Teen Parent Program, Klamath Resource Center, Early Intervention Services, Klamath Head Start and many more local agencies.
